Raleigh Family Portraits | Raleigh Photography

Its not often that I post family portraits, but we had so much fun with Alastair, Liz, Alex and Thomas last night that I thought I’d share one of the photos here. We started the shoot in downtown Raleigh photographing at various sites around downtown. Then as the sun began to set we headed over to a spot where we could capture the city in the background at sunset. I love this view of the city, hope you do too.

Highgrove Estate Wedding | Raleigh Wedding Photographer

Danielle and Thomas have been together since they were 17 years old.  Their wedding at Highgrove in Fuquay Varina, NC, was filled with so much fun & love.  Danielle  actually works in weddings herself, at the fantastic Sweet Memories Bakery, so I was honored when she asked me to photograph her wedding.

It was the most beautiful sunny November day.  I started out the day photographing Danielle and her bridesmaids at her parents’ beautiful house capturing Danielle getting ready for her special day.  Her wedding dress from Lana Addison in Cary, NC looked magnificent hanging from the door in her bedroom.  After her mom and bridesmaid helped her into her dress, Danielle walked down her family stairs for her dad to see her for the first time in her wedding gown.  While this was happening, Rebecca was at Highgrove taking pictures of Thomas and his groomsmen. I then continued to take photos around the house.

It was then over to Highgrove for the ceremony and reception.

The windows, curved stairway, hardwood floors, and sparkling chandelier make the foyer of the Highgrove a beautiful space to photograph in.

The bright autumn colors were on full display behind the bride and groom during their ceremony and portraits.  We had so much fun taking portraits of Danielle & Thomas, including  the fun “Fishing Picture”.

Crave Catering provided their guests with exceptional food including prime rib, carved ham, baked chicken, roasted potatoes, pasta, and grilled vegetables.  Sweet Memories Bakery made Danielle’s amazing 4 foot tall wedding cake and spectacular fish groom’s cake.   They also made everything on their dessert bar which included candy apples, Boston cream cupcakes, cookies, cannoli’s, strawberry cheesecake, and banana cream pie.  The dessert table was a huge hit with their guests.

The new reception ballroom is gorgeous at Highgrove.  The fabric draped ceilings with the lights and fireplace make this room very romantic.  The tables had beautiful linens from Party Reflections and lovely green & white floral centerpieces from Preston Flowers.  The couple danced to “I’ll stand by you” for their first dance.  John from Southern Video Design captured the great funny toasts from the maid of honor and best man along with others great moments throughout the day.  The reception space had lots of room to dance which was great because their family & friends danced all night thanks to DJ Joe Bunn.   Everyone loved the glow-in-the-dark sunglasses at the end of night and Rebecca got an awesome shot of the bride & groom celebrating with them on.

And lastly……we love a good ending sparkler picture to complete the wedding story and Kristie nailed it!

We loved photographing this wedding and I hope you like the photos as much as I do.

Barclay Villa Wedding | Raleigh Wedding Photography

We started off the day shooting Andi’s bridal portraits.  Barclay Villa provided lots of elegant backgrounds for her portraits.  Andi’s stunning wedding dress was from Victorian Rose.  The purple calla lily bouquets and boutonnieres were made by a family friend, Cindy.

David and Andi held their wedding ceremony outside.  It was a beauitful sunny & blue sky day for their 100+ guests to attend a lovely ceremony.  We were happy to capture a picture of all of their guests with the bride & groom after the ceremony.

While the guests enjoyed hors d’oeuvres and cocktails by the pool, we had a lot of fun taking the bridal party pictures.   The groom and his groomsmen wore colorful socks with their suits.  David’s socks were yellow with black mustaches on them.  Andi’s adorable dog made an appearance in his handsome orange bow tie!

Five Star Entertainment provided the music at the reception.  Catering Works provided the delicious family style dinner and late night snacks at the reception.  Andrea & David’s chocolate drizzled wedding cake was from Sugarland.

Congratulations David & Andi!

I was really excited when i was asked to photograph the new Championship Bermuda greens at Brier Creek Country Club. So last night we went out just before sunset and took some photos. I haven’t finished editing them all yet (and my client hasn’t seen them) but I wanted to give you a teaser. So here is the photo i took of the beautiful 18th green.

Grand Marquise Wedding | Raleigh Wedding Photography

We had the pleasure of photographing Lindsey and Warren’s wedding on August 4, 2012 at The Grand Marquise Ballroom in Garner, NC.  We first met this sweet southern bride to be, Lindsey, at a bridal show in 2011.  Since we have enjoyed hearing about her plans and details of her dream wedding over the past year, we were ecstatic when the day arrived for us to photograph it.  We knew everything would be as Lindsey had hoped since Shawn Schindler of Your Special Day was Lindsey’s wedding planner.

Lindsey started her wedding day off getting her hair done by Ginger Mullins and her Make Up by Lindsay Morse of Made Up by Lindsay.  The Grand Marquise has a lovely room for the ladies to get ready in before the ceremony.   After Lindsey’s bridesmaids put on their beautiful purple dresses it was time for Lindsey to get into her amazing wedding dress from Alexia’s Bridal Boutique in downtown Raleigh.  The pearl and crystal wedding sash belt was gorgeous.  One of our favorite moments before the ceremony was when Lindsey came down the stairs and her father saw her in her gown for the first time.

We love how big Lindsey’s smile was she walked down the aisle with her father to Warren.  We enjoyed capturing how beautiful the ceremony looked with the flowers from Expression of Love, the large chandeliers hanging from the ceiling and all of the candles that lit up each side of the stairs behind the bride & groom.

After the ceremony we did all of the family portraits inside.  While the Grand Marquise was getting the reception room ready for guests, we took the bridal party outside to get some fun pictures.   We really enjoyed when we were able to get Lindsey & Warren alone for some shots of just them together.

It was now time for the bridal party to be announced into the reception.  Every pairing did an unique dance as they entered down the steps.  The tables looked fantastic with the tall purple & green floral centerpieces and linens from CE.  Lindsey & Warren danced their first dance to “Then” by Brad Paisley.  Lindsey danced with her father to “Butterfly Kisses”.  Warren dance with his mom to “A Wonderful World”.  One of our favorite moments was when the surprise DVD was played during the reception.  Lindsey’s mom’s face was priceless as she watched with Lindsey.

Their 5 tier wedding cake was made by Cinda’s Cake.  Lindsey’s sister & made of honor caught her bouquet.  The dance floor was packed all night thanks to Randy Bennett with Joe Bunn DJ Company.  For the bride and groom’s last dance of the night, all of their guests surrounded them and blew bubbles for a nice picture perfect moment.  Their sparkler grand exit was the perfect end to this love filled wedding day.
