Beth, Kristie and I photographed an incredible wedding this past weekend that we are excited to show you a sneak peek of. Krysti & Ryan were married Saturday at Macedonia Baptist Church. We photographed Krysti & Ryan back in September for their engagement session. We were so excited that their wedding day was finally here.
When we arrived at the church, Stephanie Sevilla of “The Makeup Culture” had Krysti’s hair and make up looking perfect. Krysti & her five bridesmaids were getting ready and then the special moment arrived when Krysti’s mom and Nana put on her veil. It is the same veil her mom wore in her own wedding.
Krysti did her bridal portraits with us about a month ago, but we had fun taking some more around the church before the ceremony along with pictures with her girls. We then ventured over to the guys rooms to find them having fun playing cards. It was now time for Krysti to walk down the aisle with her dad and we caught some tears in Ryan’s eyes.
After the ceremony we were so thankful it was not raining and we took bridal party portraits at the same location we did Krysti’s bridal portraits earlier, at Montaque Lake. The arched bridge provided the perfect location for this awesome group picture. It was a very hot and sunny day so we had to move efficiently to capture great shots without making everyone miserable before the reception. It was so nice of their family’s friend to allow them to use this location as part of their memories of the day.
We were now off to Cobblestone Hall in downtown Raleigh for the reception where we knew Donald would have the Hall pumped with AC and the room perfectly put together for everyone’s arrival. We captured some sweet moments of just Krysti and Ryan together on Wolfe Street outside of Market Square. Inside, the room looked wonderful with beautiful floral arrangements by Watered Garden, of Raleigh.
It was now time for Joe Bunn of Joe Bunn DJ services to announce this energetic bridal party to everyone waiting for them. The girls sported black Ray Ban sunglasses while the groomsmen rocked hats and canes. The room was full of smiles watching everyone’s dance entrance.
Next, all eyes were on Krysti and Ryan for their first dance which they have been practicing for months. After Ryan dipped his new bride he handed her over to her dad for the father daughter dance to, “Daddy’s Little Girl.” Ryan then danced with his mom to “Simple Man.”
Krysti’s dad said a lovely welcome prayer followed by a fun speech by the sister of the groom, Devon, about her wedding gift to them – A Jack Daniel’s Waterfall fountain, so they could enjoy their first sip of Ryan’s favorite bourbon as Mr. & Mrs. Another special moment was when it was time for speeches. The maid of honor went for sentimental tone touching based on memories of the past 7 years and the best man took on the challenge of getting some laughs.
Triangle Catering provided their 200 friends & family with great dinner stations and hors d’oeurves. Guests favorites were the crab cakes, mash potato bar, and carving station. Everyone was on the dance floor after dinner. Especially when “Carolina Girls” was played.
Their wedding cake, by Ashleys Cakes, looked amazing in the center of the room, drawing your eyes to it’s colors & details. Krysti & Ryan did something we have never seen before when it came to cutting their cake. They pulled a sneak attack move on their Maid of Honor & Best Man pretending to feed each other, but instead turning to them and smashing it in their faces. No one was expecting it.
Krysti snuck away and changed into her second dress that her Nana made from her mother’s wedding dress material. This memorable wedding day ended with a sparkler exit right as it began to start raining. It didn’t stop them or us from creating the perfect end to a perfect day.
