Raleigh, NC Engagement Pictures

We did a really fun engagement shoot for Matt & Amy the other week. They are getting married in Bora Bora later in the year but wanted to do an engagement shoot in Raleigh. Amy really liked the idea of a “Vintage” look for the shoot so they brought some props with them that we could use.
I’m really looking forward to putting an album together for them. Enjoy…..

Carolina Inn Wedding | UNC Wedding Photography

Rebecca and I photographed an awesome wedding last weekend at one of my favorite venues, The Carolina Inn. Heidi Werner was in control of the things for the Inn and Megan Gillikin from A Southern Soiree was Heather and Neal’s wedding planner, so I knew the day was going to be a great success and run very smoothly.

Anyone who was outside last Saturday, and certainly other photographers, will tell you that it was perfect wedding weather. Not too hot and a bit overcast.

I first met Heather and Neal about six months ago and straight away I knew that they were going to be a great couple to work with.  We had a really enjoyable engagement shoot on UNC campus, which is where they got engaged almost a year to the date ago last April.  I knew that the wedding was going to be fun, and right in my wheelhouse.

The day started with Heather’s cousin Megan Gregory (who was also a bridesmaid) doing Heather’s hair.  Megan works for Seagrass Salon in Wilmington, NC.  Make-up was done by the fabulous Lindsay Morse. The make-up job, as expected, was completed to a high quality and finished right on schedule.

Next it was time for Heather to step into her beautiful wedding dress which was really unique, vintage-style designed by the amazing Jenny Packham.

The fun really started when we took Heather and her bridesmaids around the Carolina Inn and did some photos of them. We also stopped in the gym where Heather couldn’t resist a swipe at the Duke punching bag that is hanging there.

Next it was off to photograph a “Blind First Look” as Heather and Neal took each others hand around a pillar, without seeing each other.

The photo session was then completed with some shots of Neal and his groomsmen in the Hill courtyard.

We then made our way over to the Bryan courtyard in anticipation for the ceremony.

I managed to get a really nice shot of Neal as he saw Heather for the first time walking down the aisle and I know there was a tear in his eye.

The ceremony was performed by Rev. Barbara Lodge, who as always does a great job.

After a beautiful ceremony, we did some family photos before taking the wedding party away for some more shots around the Inn. Finally I was left with just the Bride & Groom for some more romantic shots before making our way to the reception in the Old Well room.

The Old Well room at the Carolina Inn is such a landmark for the venue and it has just been completely re-furbished with a beautiful custom-made carpet in the hallways.

The English Garden did a beautiful job with the floral displays all throughout the wedding and the Old Well room looked magnificent with their floral designs on the tables.

Heather and Neal then came into the room and a friend of theirs, Kyle Scobie, played the guitar and sang while the couple performed their first dance.  This was then followed by Heather dancing with her father and Neal with his mother.  Then it was time for the food stations to be opened.

After the food was finished, The Best Man and Maid of Honor gave their speeches and the guests toasted with glasses of Prosecco, one of the many italian notes to the evening. Heather’s mother also got up and said a few lovely words.

It was then time for the cake to be cut, which was quite a shame, as Cinda’s Creative Cakes had done a real unique job of the cake-styling complimenting Neal & Heather’s art deco theme.

It was now time for the party to start and Randy from Bunn DJ Company did an an amazing job of keeping everyone on the dance floor for hours!

Before everyone left they were given a jar of special italian tomato sauce which was manufactured by Neal’s own company, Nello’s Italy.  Nello’s sauce is available in your local Raleigh Whole Foods store and numerous other locations throughout the area.  This wonderful favor was a great way to finish what was a gorgeous wedding day.  www.nellositaly.com

Congratulations Heather & Neal!  Your pictures are full of love and happiness and that’s what we wish for you.

So what type of photographer would I be if I didn’t give you my own “First Look”.  So here is a taster of some of the great moments we were able to capture on the day. I couldn’t help but also throw in a few images from Heather’s bridal portrait session as, like on the wedding day, she looked so stunning.

Raleigh Bridal Portraits

A few weeks ago I had the pleasure of shooting a bridal portrait of the beautiful Amanda Jackson. Amanda had won a free bridal portrait session at the Forever Bridal Wedding show.

Amanda was married last weekend, so now I can share some of the images that we took with you.

I loved Amanda’s attitude and we got some really sassy images as a result.

Brides & Bouquets also did a great job with Amanda’s bouquet.

Bride’s Magazine | Raleigh Wedding Photography

We were really please to find out that a photo from our studio has been selected for the front cover of the latest Bride’s magazine. Ashley and Jordan were a real fun couple to work with and this photo really reflects what a fun time they had at their wedding.
